BackgroundThe United Nations Resource Centre (UNRC) Kuala Lumpur serves as the focal point for public information on the activities of the UN and its agencies in Malaysia and the main public resource facility for disseminating information about the UN system. The UNRC aims to become a dynamic information service center serving both the internal UN staff and members of the public. It provides a vast amount of materials on the activities of the United Nations and its agencies worldwide. In generating greater public awareness of the UN and the work of its agencies in Malaysia, UNRC also disseminates information and publications to all its users. Members of the public, users from the Malaysian Ministries, Government Agencies, NGOs, diplomatic missions, the media, private sector, as well as scholars and students from local and foreign universities, research institutions, and schools are most welcomed to visit us.

- Annual reports
- Current Magazines
- Newspaper clippings
- Periodicals and newsletters
- Directories
- Posters
- Videos of the UN and its agencies in conjunction with events and UN days.
- Other documents include those provided by the local and regional institutions such as the Government agencies, NGOs and universities.

- International peace and disaster mitigation
- HIV/AIDS
- Information and Communications Technology
- Human rights
- International trade, economic and social development
- Population studies
- Statistical records
- Major UN flagship reports are the Human Development Report, Trade and Development Report and World Investment Report.
ServicesUNRC provides the following information services/facilities to the UN staff as well as to the public: - Reference and information services to the public in areas pertaining to the UN system and our thematic areas. Enquiries may be made in person, over the telephone, by fax and through electronic mail.
- Specialized literature searches can be conducted upon request.
- Free materials - Free publications and posters are available upon request.
- Exhibition - we welcome requests and invitations from organisations for us to set up a UN exhibition at your events.
- Loan of materials - Requests for loan of publications and exhibition materials (eg. posters, etc.) are available. Requests for such materials should be sent in writing to UNRC by specifying the organization requesting for the loan, the purpose for using these materials and other relevant information.
- A user-friendly reading room.
- Self-service photocopying facility is available at a minimum charge.
