The Honda Dreams Fund, a partnership between UNDP Malaysia and Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd, provides full scholarships to 20 promising youths from underprivileged backgrounds. We focus on less fortunate youths and empower them with education and knowledge so that they may achieve their dreams and aspirations.
The partnership between UNDP and Honda Malaysia was signed on 4 January 2007 and is now in its fourth year. From Jan-Feb 2010, the HDF team traveled to selected urban and rural locations around the country to reach out to youths and promote the programme. They covered areas such as Pasir Puteh and Kota Bharu in Kelantan; Besut and Kuala Terengganu in Terengganu, Kuantan in Pahang; Penampang, Kudat and Kota Marudu in Sabah; and Ipoh and Sungai Siput in Perak. The HDF team took video and photo applications from enthusiastic youth at all the locations. The team saw a considerable number of applications for skills training from less academically inclined youth, many from indigenous communities.
The scholarship is currently open for applications and the application forms are available here as well as in major national newspapers.
