Go Green – Get to Grips with Climate Change at 1 Utama Print E-mail
UNDP teamed up with one of the Klang Valley’s pioneering ‘eco-friendly’ malls, 1 Utama, to celebrate this year’s World Environment Day. From June 5-8, the festival, themed, “Go Green –Get to Grips with Climate Change” aimed to galvanize public support around the issue of environmental sustainability and to promote green lifestyles Dato’ Teo Chiang Kok, Director of 1 Utama Young eco warriors from the Tree Theatre Group Dato’ Seri Ong Ka Chuan, Minister of Housing and Local Government who opened the event UNDP Celebrity Partner and prominent local actress, Joanna Bessey, who lent her support to the campaign Ms. Bessey has been speaking out on environmental issues on behalf of UNDP on many occasions Spreading the word Members of the Charms cheerleading squad The highlight of the launch event was a touching piece by the Tree Theatre Group, titled, “Tears of Trees” The play spotlighted the conflict between human activity and Mother Nature
